Seychelles Take First-Ever Summer Beestera Cup
8/3/25, 8:00 PM

The inaugural Summer Beestera Cup gave our camp staff a new way to compete this summer, and set the stage for what could become a yearly tradition.
Organized by Tucker Stern, the tournament featured three teams representing Jamaica, New Zealand, and the Seychelles Islands. Captains Dean Herridge (Jamaica), Harvey Smith (New Zealand), and Cayo Jones (Seychelles) led their squads, which were finalized after a flurry of last-minute trades and free agent signings. The transfer window officially closed at 3pm the day before, capping off an active player market and adding extra anticipation to the event.
The format was simple: each team played the other twice in 12-minute matches, with three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss. The top two teams after group play would advance to the final, while the third-place side would bow out. Short breaks between games kept the tempo high and the energy up on a hot afternoon at Afrims Sports Park.
By the end of group play, the standings were tight enough that the final came down to small margins. The championship was decided in old-school MLS-style, meaning a three-player penalty shootout dribbling the goalkeeper in a 1v1. In the high-pressure environment, Seychelles stayed composed, converting their chances and a big save from Nathan Artist securing the win to become the first-ever Summer Beestera Cup champions.
Special credit goes to Tucker Stern for designing the format, organizing rosters, managing the schedule, and ensuring the day ran smoothly. It was a great way for the staff to showcase their talents on the pitch.
For now, the Seychelles squad holds the bragging rights — and the other teams will already be thinking about how to take the Cup from them next summer.
