THE FOUNDATION

Because everyone deserves an opportunity.

At the Beestera Foundation, we believe in fostering a diverse, inclusive environment where each child, regardless of race, gender, or background-can thrive and pursue their dreams, both on and off the field.

The Beestera Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation founded in 2021. Based in Albany, NY, the Beestera Foundation provides youth in underprivileged communities with scholarships, coaching education, and equipment. The Beestera Foundation is committed to narrowing the gap, largely divided by socioeconomic status, by providing research-based programming, coaching education, equipment and supplies, and scholarship opportunities, all free of charge to the participant.

The Beestera Foundation values a diverse community of athletes free from discrimination and harassment based on race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, faith, religion, national origin, disability, age, or genetic information.

The Beestera Foundation emphasizes the belief that any child can do whatever or be whoever they want in life, regardless of socioeconomic status.

The Just Play program is an 8-week winter initiative, typically running from January to March, designed to provide youth in underserved communities with the opportunity to find joy and learn life skills through soccer.

It offers a safe learning environment where players engage in both structured and unstructured free play, guided by a curriculum that includes fun warm-up activities, unstructured play rules, and a "Word or Phrase of the Day" to teach valuable on- and off-field skills.

In addition, Just Play supports the development of volunteer coaches by offering mentorship, professional development, and the chance to earn a USSF coaching certification. The program is completely free for all participants.

The Foundations 'Gear Up' program is a community-driven initiative designed to provide soccer equipment and gear to youth in underserved communities.

By collecting and donating items such as cleats, shin guards, uniforms, and soccer balls, 'Gear Up' ensures that every player has the opportunity to participate fully, regardless of financial barriers.

This program not only equips young athletes with the tools they need to succeed on the field, but it also fosters a sense of inclusion and support within the community. 'Gear Up' is a vital part of our mission to make soccer accessible to all and empower the next generation of players.

The Game Changers program is our coaching education initiative aimed at developing and empowering coaches to make a lasting impact both on and off the field.

Through this program, coaches receive valuable mentorship, hands-on training, and guidance to complete their USSF coaching licenses. In addition to enhancing their coaching skills, participants contribute to other community-focused programs like Just Play, helping to shape the next generation of players in underserved communities.

Game Changers is designed to foster professional growth, build leadership skills, and ensure coaches are equipped to inspire and support young athletes.

The Game On program is a scholarship initiative, providing financial assistance to ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate in Beestera Soccer Training’s camps, regardless of their financial situation.

Through Game On, deserving youth receive scholarships that cover camp fees, allowing them to experience high-quality soccer training, develop their skills, and build confidence in a supportive environment.

This program is a key part of our commitment to making soccer accessible to all, helping young athletes reach their full potential on and off the field.

OUR BOARD

the faces behind our mission.

Madeline (Maddy) Hammer

President

"I’ve been a member of the Capital District soccer community for most of my life. It has always been, and continues to be, a wonderful opportunity for personal growth, friendship, and fun. I’d like to be able to give back to the community that has supported me for so many years and find new ways to make an impact locally and beyond."

Daniel Josepher

Vice President

"I have been grateful enough to have the opportunity to play this sport at some of the highest levels, despite the barriers to entry so many people face each and every day. I am hoping to use this platform and this foundation to afford others the opportunities I took for granted, regardless of socioeconomic backgrounds."

Michael Matera

Director of Events

"My main goal of the foundation is to give as many youth athletes the chance to enjoy the game of soccer. I never want someone to not be able to play because of financial reasons. Athletes in underserved areas deserve to have the same experiences as everyone else and I am looking forward to giving them this opportunity."

Luke Nathan

Secretary

"From an early age I was an avid soccer player and had the privilege of playing as much as I wanted. Many children, despite an equal or greater passion for the sport, are not so lucky. I’m thrilled to support the Foundation in its efforts to broaden such opportunities for less fortunate kids in the Capital Region and beyond."

Ryan Wilkinson

Treasurer

"I attended the University at Albany, so the Capital Region holds a special place in my heart. I moved back to the Capital Region in 2019 and have since made it my permanent home. The area has so much to offer and Beestera continues to make an impact in our community. I’d like to help the Foundation expand and support underserved areas so that more children have the opportunity to experience the benefits of sports."

Matthew Needham

Liaison

"Athletics changed my life and gave me an opportunity in the United States. Sport is a powerful thing and can open doors to people that may not otherwise have been possible. It is my goal to give opportunities in underserved communities and continue to try and develop both great players and better people."

James Beeston

Vice Liaison

"I've been coaching in the Capital Region for years now, working alongside a brilliant team to grow Beestera from the ground up. Now, we've hit a point where we want to give back even more and to make a real difference. Joining the board at Beestera Foundation feels like the next natural step for me to help communities that might not have the same opportunities."
